About

Sébastien Pitt is a professional Canadian digital artist specializing in digital arts. Recognized in his field by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, his practice spans across audiovisual installations, performances, augmented reality, and NFTs. He crafts his works using a meticulously calibrated performative system, integrating high-definition 3D elements that dynamically respond to sound compositions created by modular synthesizers. His aesthetic exploration delves into the intersection of the intangible and the visible, manifesting through layers of generative textures and the revelation of virtual objects, navigating the intricate relationship between perception and emotion.

His works have been showcased on prestigious platforms such as Blackdove (2024), TheCurated.app (2023), and ArtificialMuseum.com at the Vienna Art Week (2023). Notable exhibitions include presentations at First Friday by Digital Dreams KC (May 2024), at Nathan Philips Square in Toronto (2023), at New City Gaz by OxSociety, Montreal (2022), and at the Société des arts technologiques [SAT] during the 7th edition of the Symposium IX — Sound & Immersion, Montreal (2021).

Additionally, Sébastien Pitt has presented interactive augmented reality works, NFTs, and audiovisual performances at the Théâtre Gilles-Vigneault in collaboration with the Musée d’art contemporain des Laurentides – MAC LAU during the 5th edition of the “Nourritures terrestres” event in Saint-Jérôme, Qc (2022). He also conducted an audiovisual presentation at the Wikithon of 3L Culture numérique (2021). Furthermore, he has organized and produced exhibition and cultural mediation events at the Place des Citoyens in Sainte-Adèle, Qc (2021) and at the Maison Hamilton in Rosemère during the Journées de la Culture (2021).

In his artistic practice, Sébastien Pitt explores the affordance of digital devices and systems, as well as the potential for participant interaction. This artistic approach is guided by a precise intention: to make his works accessible to a wide audience by adapting them to various digital rendering domains. The constituent elements of his audiovisual performances are deconstructed and rearranged to create augmented reality and cryptographic art experiences, while maintaining aesthetic and conceptual coherence. Through this approach, he seeks to provoke varied interpretations among spectators, thereby questioning the abstract nature of the digital environment.

With a solid entrepreneurial background in web agency management, client relations, team leadership, and teaching, Sébastien Pitt excels in communication and easily adapts to all stakeholders involved in a creative process. As the creator of a standardized web content management system (SGC/CMS) for the visually impaired, he has also contributed to interactive sound programming in artistic video installations, as well as DMX lighting systems for renowned DJs such as Tiesto. Endowed with remarkable versatility, he excels in all aspects of multimedia production: from concept to realization, from consulting to production, from support to training, from dissemination to mediation.• Software: TouchDesigner, MAX 8, Ableton Live, Max for Live, Push2, Arduino IDE, Xcode, Sublime Text, Substance, Blender • Expertise: Ambisonics, audiovisual synchronization and performance, multi-channel audio, computer-generated imagery, modular synthesizers, augmented reality, interactive installation • Protocols: GLSL, Python, OpenGL, UDP/OSC, RESTful API, MIDI, Voltage Control, DMX
